Excalidraw MCP
Excalidraw's official MCP server: you describe a diagram, Claude draws it hand-drawn style, element by element, and you open it full screen to touch it up. It is an 'MCP App': the drawing shows up as an interface inside the conversation, wherever the client can display one (the Claude app, VS Code, Goose). It connects in one line to the public instance, no install and no key.
Strengths
- Maintained by the Excalidraw team, MIT licence, public instance that answers without an account
- The drawing appears stroke by stroke in the conversation and can be edited full screen
- A button exports the diagram to excalidraw.com and returns a link to share with the team
Limitations
- Nothing to see in Claude Code in a terminal: the display depends on a client that supports MCP Apps
- The diagram lives in the conversation, not in your repository: to version it, export it or use the skill
Best for
- A PM who wants to lay out a feature flow before the scoping meeting
- A developer explaining an architecture to the team with a link to share
- A first contact with MCP servers: one line to add, a result you can see right away
