Passation plutôt que compaction
Instead of compacting a worn-out session, you have it write a handoff file, open a fresh session, and give it that file as its only context. The file holds the objective, the current problem, the files involved, what was already tried and failed, and the next intended step. The resuming session inherits no dead ends.
