CleanYourTV
Open source repository (MIT licence) that cleans up an Android TV or Google TV set over Wi-Fi and replaces its home screen with a lightweight launcher. The core is a PROMPT.md file to paste into a coding agent (Claude Code, Codex or Gemini CLI): the agent connects to the TV over ADB, saves the original state, disables the preinstalled ad and tracking apps, builds and installs the launcher, and checks each step with screenshots pulled from the TV. About fifteen minutes.
Strengths
- Reversible: packages disabled not removed, original state recorded, rollback script provided
- Works with three coding agents (Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI): the prompt is the product
- Tested debloat lists for about 170 TV models
Limitations
- Android TV and Google TV only; Samsung (Tizen) and LG (webOS) are not covered, and on Fire TV only the cleanup works
- A system update can re-enable disabled packages
- Network ADB in plaintext on port 5555: turn USB and network debugging off when done
Best for
- Cleaning the ads and tracking apps off a parent's TV in an afternoon with a coding agent
