God's Eye View
A 3D globe in the browser, fed by real public feeds: civilian and military flights, satellites, earthquakes, transit, bikeshare, radio stations, public cameras, satellite basemaps. Written by Bilawal Sidhu and Sameh Khamis in plain JavaScript on CesiumJS, MIT licensed, 39k stars as of 20 September 2026. Twelve of the sixteen layers run with no key: anonymous OpenSky, adsb.lol, CelesTrak, USGS, OpenStreetMap, GTFS, GBFS, OSRM. Vessels, active fires, Google 3D and voice control each need their own key.
Strengths
- Twelve real data layers with no key at all: enough to fill a prototype in one evening
- Plain JavaScript on CesiumJS, MIT licensed: the code reads without installing a build chain
- Every layer names its public source, so you leave with the list of feeds, not just with the demo
Limitations
- It is not a component to reuse: it is a whole application, to read rather than to integrate
- The most spectacular layers (vessels, active fires, Google 3D, voice) each require a key
- Many copies with an identical README circulate: check you are on the bilawalsidhu repository
Best for
- A PM or designer preparing a demo who wants it wired to a real feed rather than a made-up table
- A workshop where you need to show in one hour what changes when data arrives late or twice
