Claude Code
My only paid IDE/terminal tool. Adopts the Agent Skills standard (Anthropic + MS VS Code + GitHub + Cursor + Goose + Amp + OpenCode); `use_figma` MCP client; compatible with Storybook MCP / shadcn registry MCP / axe-mcp. Paired with GSD v2, it's my primary dev environment.
Strengths
- Full git workflows (issues → code → PR) autonomously from terminal
- Deep codebase understanding with multi-file edits and shell execution
- Built-in safety: confirmation before destructive actions, lowest injection rate
- Native GitHub/GitLab integration for issue-to-PR pipelines
- Best-in-class agentic reasoning with Opus 4.6 (91.3% GPQA Diamond)
- Cost is steerable rather than suffered: the advisor setup documented by Anthropic puts the cheap model in the driver seat and escalates to the expensive one only when needed, for 2.7 points more on SWE-bench Multilingual at 11.9% lower cost per task
Limitations
- Expensive for quick prototypes, $5+ for a single session is common
- Terminal-only UX, no visual IDE, no GUI diff view
- Slower on very large monorepos; context window still a bottleneck
Best for
- Senior devs automating full feature cycles end-to-end
- CI/CD pipelines and agentic background tasks
- Deep multi-file refactoring with safety guardrails
