Cursor
The AI-native editor that started the wave. It loads skills in the open Agent Skills format (`.cursor/skills/`, `.agents/skills/`, and also `.claude/skills/`), reads `AGENTS.md` and `.cursor/rules` rules, and connects to the official Figma MCP server. Since summer 2026 Cursor sits under SpaceXAI: its subscriptions are merging with Grok’s. I cancelled the paid subscription, I use it ~1x/week to inspect a specific code page, not for coding.
Strengths
- Full project context awareness, suggestions span multiple files accurately
- Zero onboarding friction, imports all VS Code settings, themes, extensions
- Cloud agents, Projects in beta (a coordinator that delegates large pieces of work) and remote control of local agents from the iOS app, per the August to October 2026 changelog
- A $0 Free plan to try it, with limited agent requests
Limitations
- Third-party models (Anthropic's included) are billed separately at API list price, on top of the subscription
- Unstable pricing: the Hobby, Pro and Pro+ lineup gave way to Free, Plus, Premium, Super and Ultra around a usage pool shared with Grok, and the plans docs are not yet aligned
- The $8 Plus plan only gives access to Grok models; third-party models start at Premium ($30)
