Omarchy
A Linux distribution by David Heinemeier Hansson, the creator of Ruby on Rails, built on Arch and Hyprland. It ships coding agents already wired in: OpenCode under the `c` alias, Claude Code under `cx`, and prepared launchers for the other command-line agents, loaded on demand with no prior install. The repository carries its own `AGENTS.md` and `CLAUDE.md`, so agents running on it read the system's own conventions. Themes restyle everything at once: desktop, terminal, editor, monitor, notifications, bar, launcher and lock screen. Version 4, named Quattro, at 4.0.4 as of 24 September 2026: the whole interface (bar, launcher, menus, notifications, lock screen) was rebuilt inside a single process, and it is the release DHH pins in the [Instagram reel DdcCOLRBjMs](https://www.instagram.com/reel/DdcCOLRBjMs/). MIT licensed, 42.9k stars as of 24 September 2026, funded by the Omacom foundation.
Strengths
- Coding agents are wired at the system root, not installed one machine at a time: OpenCode on `c`, Claude Code on `cx`
- The system carries its own `AGENTS.md` and `CLAUDE.md`: the conventions the agent reads ship with the distribution
- One theme restyles desktop, terminal, editor, notifications and lock screen in a single move
Limitations
- Replacing your operating system is a cost that has nothing to do with installing a tool
- Arch and Hyprland underneath: fixing a breakage assumes you know both
- No direct value on a designer, PM or PO machine, which lives in tools this distribution does not host
Best for
- Developers already on Linux who want a machine where agents are system commands, not apps to relaunch
- Anyone who wants to see what an opinionated software stance looks like taken all the way down to the whole system
