find-skills
A skill published by Vercel in the vercel-labs/skills repo, which teaches the agent to look for skills on your behalf. It fires when you ask "how do I do X", "find me a skill for X" or want to extend its abilities. Its method is six steps: pin down the domain, check the skills.sh leaderboard first, run `npx skills find [keyword]`, verify quality (installs, source, GitHub stars), present the options with the install command, then offer to install. When nothing matches, it says so and offers to help directly or to create a skill with `npx skills init`.
Strengths
- A six-step search method that checks the leaderboard before searching
- Requires checking install count, source reputation and repo stars before recommending
- Covers the no-result case: the agent says so, helps directly or suggests `npx skills init`
Limitations
- Its install example passes `-g -y`: global and no confirmation, so nobody reads the SKILL.md first
- Its trust markers (1K+ installs, caution under 100 installs or under 100 stars) measure popularity, not a skill's safety
- Its first reflex is the skills.sh leaderboard, ranked by installs: a recent, little-installed skill slips under the radar
Best for
- Finding out whether a skill already exists before writing one yourself
- Letting the agent search, then installing what you keep yourself
- A first pass on an unfamiliar domain: the agent reports which skills exist, with their counter and source
