better-ui et better-colors (Jakub Krehel)
A repository of interface polish skills published by Jakub Krehel (MIT licence). Each one applies one family of the details that separate a correct screen from a polished one. **better-ui**: concentric radii, optical alignment, context-appropriate icons, hit areas, animation. **better-colors**: palettes, semantic tokens, contrast checks and format conversion, with OKLCH. The repository holds eleven: better-typography, better-layout, better-accessibility and better-writing for the other families, better-interface that chains them all, interface-review for a per-category audit, explain-interface that breaks down an animation or a component, break that tries a component in every state and variant that produces several versions of it.
Strengths
- Names precise details you can check one by one, instead of "making it prettier"
- One skill per family of details: you run only the one you are missing
- MIT licence, public and well-followed repository (over 7,000 stars)
Limitations
- Web oriented: the fixes assume CSS and transfer poorly to native
- May change your colours outside your design system if you do not review
Best for
- Vibecoded screens that work but look generated
- Designers who want a polish pass before showing a render
- A palette to rework in OKLCH with checked contrast
