Marketing Psychology
A skill from Corey Haines' marketingskills repository (MIT licence) that sorts more than sixty mental models into six families: base reasoning (the job the customer wants done, first principles), buyer decision biases, persuasion levers (reciprocity, scarcity, loss aversion), pricing psychology, behaviour design models (Fogg, EAST) and growth loops. Before advising, it looks for a product context file in the project, then asks about the target behaviour, what the customer already believes and what holds them back.
Strengths
- More than sixty models sorted by use, from pricing to persuasion
- Asks for product context before advising, instead of reciting formulas
- Part of a family you can install piece by piece (copywriting, conversion, A/B tests)
Limitations
- No concrete ethical guardrail: the agent may offer fake scarcity with the same confidence as real proof
- Without a product context file, the advice stays generic
Best for
- Rewriting the headline and call to action of a landing page knowing which lever each sentence pulls
- Reviewing a pricing page to see what reason to hesitate it leaves the customer
- Sorting, before publishing, the levers on your page that inform from the ones that manufacture urgency
