SlopMonster
A dependency-free Python script that scores an English text from 0 to 5 across five families of AI writing tics (vocabulary, phrasing, punctuation, lists of three, unsupported claims), plus a SKILL.md that has the agent review and rewrite the draft, then run it past a model from another family. The script exits with code 0 at 5/5 and 1 below: it plugs in as a guard in a script or a CI. What it changes in practice, seen in [Instagram reel DeUzoIFtChm](https://www.instagram.com/reel/DeUzoIFtChm/): you paste your landing page or your email, it lists the phrases that smell like AI ("seamless", "game-changing", "for the modern era") and proposes the rewrite. The README gives marketing copy examples with the editing passes recorded.
Strengths
- Checker on the Python 3 standard library: no API key, no package to install
- Exit code 0 at 5/5 and 1 below: pluggable as a guard in a script or a CI
- Marketing copy examples with the editing passes recorded (landing page, roofing company)
Limitations
- English only, no language detection: a text in another language passes unchecked
- Can flag an ordinary phrase and let a bad text through: 5/5 does not prove quality
- The pass through a model from another family needs an installed, authenticated CLI, otherwise the script prints the prompt to copy by hand
Best for
- Anyone writing in English with an AI (landing page, email, sales copy) who wants a mechanical check before sending
- Teams that want a style guard in CI on English documentation or content
- Anyone who wants to see concretely which tics give away a generated text, to spot them without the tool
