Open Design
An open source alternative to Claude Design, now a desktop app for macOS and Windows. You plug in the coding agent already on your machine, or your own API key (Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, Ollama), and get clickable prototypes, decks and visuals, exportable to HTML, PDF, PPTX or MP4. Over 100 skills and 151 design systems ship with it, under the Apache 2.0 licence.
Strengths

- Apache 2.0 and agent-agnostic: it detects the coding agents on your machine (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode and more) or goes through your key
Limitations
- Targeted edits (click one element so only that part is reworked) are listed as partially shipped on the repository roadmap: do not count on them yet to fix a detail without the rest moving
- Direct competitor Open CoDesign (OpenCoworkAI), choosing between the two not trivial
Best for
- Designers/devs hitting Claude Design quotas who want a local-first setup
- Teams without Anthropic Pro budget but wanting the prompt-to-prototype experience
