Recordly
An open-source screen recorder that edits for you: it places zooms on your clicks, smooths cursor movement and drops the video into a styled frame. Mac, Windows and Linux.
Strengths
- Zooms place themselves on clicks, with no timeline pass
- Smoothed cursor and click bounce, the touch that marks an edited demo
- Styled frame with background, rounded corners and shadow, applied by default
- A visual timeline still available to cut, speed up and annotate
- Free, with no export limit, on all three systems
Limitations
- A young project forked from OpenScreen, with no long release history
- AGPL 3.0 licence: no effect for recording use, constraining for product integration
- Hiding the real cursor depends on the system, Windows requires build 19041 or later
Best for
- Showing a product flow internally without going through an editor
- Recording an agent or prototype demo for a post or a review
- Replacing a paid screen-capture subscription for an occasional need
